My Surroundings / Locality
Bainbridge Island is the gateway to the Olympic peninsula, where you can hike into the mountains, sail on the sound, explore lovely small towns (Pt. Townsend is one of the most historic) and enjoy the extraordinary scenery all around. Seattle is home to wonderful museums (Experience Music Project and Seattle Art Museum to name only two), great shopping (Pike Place Market anyone?) and the history and culture that defines a great city. From Bainbridge Island you can be in downtown Seattle (on foot - no car needed) in less than an hour. But you'll want to linger here, it's a wonderful town!
My Hometown
Bainbridge Island is one of the best places to live in the Seattle area. Nature is all around our lovely island but the energy of downtown Seattle is a short (35 minutes) ferry ride away. We are in town, within an easy walk of the movie theatre, performing arts center, galleries and shopping. Our six mile long island has many parks to explore and just across the bridge the Olympic Peninsula beckons. We have one of the best independent bookstores in the area and the marina, where you can rent a boat, is just a short walk away.
